The Virtues Project™ Parenting Course

9HRS TOTAL (3HR SESSIONS over 3 weeks)

$350pp

Workshops for parents of:

0-4 years: Lay the foundation and set the direction for your future parenting. Many parents who do the workshop with older children say they wish they’d done it sooner but they didn’t seek help till they were exhausted, frustrated and overwhelmed!

5-11 years: Deal with common parenting road blocks like challenging behaviour, emotional outbursts and powers struggles. Put an end to guilt and overwhelm. Create a calm, respectful and loving culture in your home.

Tweens and early teens: Learn about the effects of hormone surges in your child and how to navigate emotional outbursts, unpredictable behaviour and ‘attitude’. Create a new way of talking with your teen, allowing their positive qualities to shine and nurturing their strengths.

The course focuses on five clear strategies:

1. SPEAK THE LANGUAGE of the Virtues

Language shapes character. The way we speak to one another, and the words we use, have great power to discourage or to inspire.

Learn how to speak the language of virtues when acknowledging, guiding and correcting to bring out the best in your child. When we speak the language of virtues we replace shaming and blaming of one another with gentle reminders of who we are and how we want to be. We develop a deeply respectful family culture.

2. RECOGNIZE TEACHABLE MOMENTS

Recognising the gifts and life lessons in our childs daily challenges helps us to cultivate their character. As our childrens primary educator we can recognise an occurrence or situation in which there is an inherent opportunity for our child to build self-esteem as we guide them to make sound moral choices and polish their unique gifts of character.

3. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Learn to be conscious of how your own personal leadership style may affect how you enforce the boundaries in your home. Without clear appropriate boundaries children can feel unsafe and overwhelmed. Learn the 10 specific guidelines for establishing family groundrules that create clarity and maintain a climate of peace and respectfulness in your home. Learn how to enforce relevant consequences that are educative and restorative.

4. HONOuR THE SPIRIT

This strategy encourages us to share skills, stories and create meaningful routines and rituals with our children to bring joy and awaken a childs sense of meaning. Creating moments of reverence allows the family to take time for reflection and foster deep trust and family unity.

5. OFFER COMPANIONING

Learn how to truly listen and be present to your child when they have a problem. One of the greatest gifts we have to give to them is our presence. By being deeply present, following the companioning process and listening with both compassion and detachment, we help them to empty their cup and find their own answers. This approach empowers them to discern their teachable moments and to reflect on their virtues.
